House Rules

No smoking or vaping of any substances on the property.

No parties or large group gatherings.

Service Dogs: We clean the rental ourselves. Due to allergies, we request guests with service dogs bring their own sheets if the dog will be sleeping with you. We also ask that you bring something to cover any other furniture on which the dog will be. We ask that you do not allow your service dog in the tub/shower. Bath linens are for human use only. Please do not leave service dogs unattended for any length of time. Service dogs must be housebroken.

Longer Stays: We will gladly service the rental every 3 days. This includes fresh linens, replenished bath amenities, and clean dishes and silverware. There will be an additional $25 per cleaning. Please let us know if you will not require this additional service.

The space
This newly renovated, private apartment is the perfect home base when visiting your WCU student, exploring the university, rafting the Tuck or other local rivers, biking the scenic mountain roads, or hiking the many trails within easy access of Cullowhee. Enjoy cool evenings on the deck. You'll have full privacy, even though the owners live on site. Whether working, visiting, or vacationing, Catamount Overlook is your comfortable refuge. We are committed to keeping this an allergy-friendly space and do not permit animals other than service animals.
Additional notes
"Neighborly Encounters" - You may occasionally find a squirrel, chipmunk, rabbit, or bluetail lizard hanging out on the deck or in the yard. We often enjoy watching them and our many cardinals, bluebirds, and redheaded woodpeckers. If you hear a scurrying noise above you, rest assured it's one of our squirrels taking a shortcut across the roof from the front yard to the back.
Guest interaction
If you have any questions or need anything, we live in the main house separated by two exterior doors (for your privacy). We often work from home and can be available at a moment's notice. We provide you with a detailed guidebook filled with our favorite restaurants, breweries, and outdoor recreation information. Coffe, tea, and breakfast items are provided.
Neighborhood overview
Catamount Overlook is in the Briar Patch neighborhood looking down on the nearby WCU campus. An older, well-established neighborhood, we are surrounded by many new campus housing complexes, yet private enough to feel tucked out of the way. Minutes to the middle of campus, you're also just a short drive to rafting, kayaking, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and an outstanding OHV trail for 4-wheeling fun. 30 minutes to Waynesville, Cashiers, Cherokee, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. 40 minutes to Bryson City or Franklin, and just an hour to Asheville. We provide information, maps, recommendations, and anything else you need for an amazing stay.
Getting around
This is rural western North Carolina, so your car is your best bet for getting around. Catamount Overlook is an easy walk to campus and nearby off-campus student housing. We are 3.5 miles to the nearest grocery store and pharmacy, and just 10 minutes to downtown Sylva.
